Jiangsu Railteco  Equipment Co., Ltd. www.railteco.com has achieved phased trial operation results for an overseas project of self-developed side-discharge sugarcane transport wagons (Model RTH61-00-00-000) customized for a South American client. This milestone marks Railteco’s successful entry into another South American rail vehicle market and further optimizes the company’s overseas market layout covering North and Latin America.

Independently designed by Railteco, this wagon has secured two patents. It is equipped with AAR Type E couplers, domestically-made Chinese MT-3 draft gears with performance equivalent to MARK50 units, and standard Chinese braking systems. Its bogie adopts a three-piece structure (1 bolster + 2 side frames) designed in compliance with AAR standards, meeting the requirements of 20-ton axle load, a maximum operating speed of 85 km/h, and operation on 60-meter-radius curves. Due to the client’s operational requirements, locking holes are arranged on the underframe, and full-opening overhead side doors are fitted on one side of the wagon. For unloading, the wagon is fixed to the track via the underframe locking holes, then the side door locking mechanism is released. The track and wagon rotate integrally, the side doors swing open automatically by gravity, and cargo is unloaded relying on gravitational force. Compared with traditional open-top wagons or container transport solutions, this design drastically boosts unloading efficiency, while featuring light tare weight, simple structure and convenient operation & maintenance.

To cut transportation costs and match the client’s on-site assembly conditions, both parties agreed on a CKD (Complete Knock Down) supply model: Railteco delivers all vehicle components for local assembly at the client’s premises. Supported by the company’s robust technical guidance, mature wagon assembly techniques and comprehensive on-site quality control system, the project advances steadily. To ensure efficient on-site assembly and commissioning, Railteco dispatched five professional technicians to provide full-time on-site technical support at the client’s facility in South America.

To date, several sugarcane wagons have completed final assembly. After comprehensive vehicle inspections and single-car braking tests, these units have been put into trial operation. All operational indicators remain stable with excellent overall test performance, winning high recognition from the client’s representatives.
